EGGS!

Rose and Lily have started to produce daily eggs once again. I guess they took the talk we had about 'chicken soup' seriously. They had been penned up. Scratchers, they are, and they were wrecking my new flower beds. To them, it was the '24 hour free buffet' table of worms and bugs. To me, it was a recipe for plant disaster.
So, into isolation they went. We put them in a movable coop, affectionately known as "The Condo". A cozy chicken coop for 2-4 birds. Well, to put it mildly, THEY DID NOT LIKE IT. And, to show their displeasure, they went on strike. No eggs, no way. Even though we moved their coop daily to new fresh grass and bugs, they were having none of it.
Finally, now that the plants are big enough to defend themselves, we liberated the girls. Thankfully, they are showing their appreciation with an egg a piece for the past couple of days.
Goody.
and
Yummy.
Thanks girls.
P.S. A new shipment of chicks will arrive in two days. Along with another (gulp) 15 meat chickens, there will be 5 EGG layers!
I wonder who will be wintering over???????
Nothing like good ole' American competition, eh?
Happy Summer Solstice, folks.
